How to Secure the Slate into the Sticks

The industry standard for the insert into Clapper Sticks is 3.5mm and Acrylic Board Slates are generally made to a width of 3mm. By its composition, acrylic has a tolerance of +/- 10%; which allows the Slate to have a varying tolerance ranging from 2.7mm to 3.3mm, and this is why tape is still used to fit all sorts of Slates into Sticks.
By following these instructions, you can be assured that your Filmsticks Clapper Sticks will fit your Slate.

Take out your Filmsticks Clapper Sticks, the Acrylic Board Slate and Tape. You will require scissors and a cutting knife for the tape

Image 2 & 3

Measure the Tape length so that it is almost the width of the Slate, using your fingers as a guide to leave space at the end of the Slate (so the Tape cannot be seen at the ends when the Clapper Stick is attached).

Apply the Tape to the top of the Slate in the manner shown. The Tape should be able to fold completely over to the back side of the Slate and ensure a smooth finish. Depending on the width of the Slate, you may find that the process in Image 3, 4, 5 is repeated, adding another layer of tape to both sides until the Slate fits snugly into the Sticks.

Notes on the use of Marker Pens

White Board Marker Pens can be rubbed off easily with a cloth. Permanent Marker Pens will need a chemical to remove from the Slate. Use Permanent Marker Pens on your Slate if you are intending to keep information on the Slate for the duration of a production. Then use White Board Marker Pens for information that you will regularly update during production
